Walkies Time With PDSA

Calling all dog owners. Leading veterinary charity, PDSA, is organising a series of sponsored dog walks - Walkies - to raise much needed funds for pets in need of vets this October.

PDSA organised walks will take place at dog-friendly locations in Belfast, Birmingham, Gateshead, Glasgow, Liverpool and London throughout October. Alternatively, animal lovers can organise their own sponsored walks, meaning that everyone across the UK can get involved with the exciting new fundraising project.

PDSA Walkies organiser, Tracey Lyons, says, "PDSA is urging dog owners to get their walking shoes on and sign up for Walkies to raise vital funds for sick and injured pets.

"The initiative forms part of the charity's biggest ever pet health campaign, Long Live Pets, which aims to promote a healthy life for all pets. Worrying statistics reveal that one in three pets are overweight, so PDSA hopes that Walkies will raise awareness of the obesity epidemic hitting the nation's pets and encourage pet owners to tackle the problem."

The sponsorship money collected will help PDSA vets and nurses to provide more than 1.8 million free veterinary treatments this year.

You can register for one of PDSA's organised walks or order an 'organise your own walk' pack, by visiting www.pdsa.org.uk/walkies.
